AMELIA ISLAND
Over the past 16+ years art has become my favorite way to soak in the moment while I’m traveling. Don’t get me wrong, it is not easy to make time for this, it takes real effort to pause long enough to make a painting or even a quick sketch. But I can honestly say that the places I have taken the time to paint in are so ingrained in my memory.
You will very often see my sweet man lugging my easel around for me just because he wants me to always know that he believes in my art. While we were in Amelia Island last month I did get in a few paintings on the beach and in downtown Fernandina Beach.
For the downtown painting we found a little spot off the main sidewalk to set up in the shade and paint one of the buildings surrounded by palm trees.
I so enjoy all of the people stopping to have a chat while I’m painting in a public location.
In my many years of painting on outdoors, I’ve only had the kindest and most encouraging interactions with those who are interested in what I’m making!
