Edinburgh West | Live Wedding Painting
From our first chat, I could tell that Jaclyn + Zach had a touch of magic in their love.
During our “brainstorm” chat about their painting, they both dreamed of something that had a soft summertime feel that really captured the vaulted glass ceilings and greenhouse tones of Edinburgh West. I was MORE than thrilled to hear their dreams, because I too was dying to capture the drama that came naturally to this timeless venue. While I had painted at this venue before, this was the first time I would get to paint inside!
Walking into this turn of the century inspired venue, where the fans were blowing the sheer sky high drapes around was like a cool drink on a hot summer day. And it IMMEDIATELY reminded me of this scene in the Great Gatsby….
“A breeze blew through the room, blew curtains in at one end and out the other like pale flags, twisting them up toward the frosted wedding-cake of the ceiling—and then rippled over the wine-colored rug, making a shadow on it as wind does on the sea.”
Without a doubt, I had to capture the movement of these curtains in the painting to add a touch of drama.
About half way through the painting, my husband pops around the side of the canvas with the most delicious “wedding cake” flavored coffee from the cutest coffee bar they had at the wedding. Postage Coffee, you guys were out here being everyday heroes with your amazing coffees for jump starting my creativity!
I think my favorite chats of the evening had to be from Jaclyn’s Dad and he was certainly my most frequent visitor to check on the paintings progress throughout the night!
